CASA DE UCO

Casa de Uco is fully committed to the environment, development, and the conservation of local communities. Its mission is to provide a travel experience that is respectful, sustainable, and culturally rich. What are some of its sustainable practices? Its approach to waste centers on “reduce, reuse, recycle” and uses solar collectors to heat water naturally, minimizing the use of gas. Casa de Uco also avoids petroleum-based plastics; additionally, its vineyards utilize drip irrigation in conjunction with ground mapping to identify areas with different drainage needs.

The hotel and winery use a water treatment system; once treated, sewage recirculates to irrigate an area with 200 poplar trees, which also help to counteract CO2 emissions. There’s also an organic garden where more than 30 crops are grown on-site. Casa de Uco staff are trained in responsible energy consumption and climate change issues in order to continue generating a greater consciousness with regard to the environment.
